Increasing vocabulary is a necessary requirement for a linguist, philologist, editor, in a word, everyone who is directly related to a language, their own or a foreign one. Memorizing words is the first task of any person taking up the study of a foreign language. Unfortunately, despite the development of technology and science in general, mankind has not yet developed a universal way to quickly and reliably memorize words. The recently so sensational "25 frame effect". But using a certain combination of proven methods, you can make your training more effective. These include recording, mnemonics, and usage.

Step 1
Recording. Any word you want to remember must be handwritten. This turns on the motor memory, and when you print the letters, you involuntarily memorize the word. It is necessary to write down not on scattered pieces of paper, but in a notebook-dictionary. And it should be written in this way: the word itself with a meaning, under it, in a column, several phrases using the word and their translation. Writing down like this, you will immediately know how the word is applied in practice. Despite the high time investment, your efforts will pay off. You will simply be surprised when, at the right moment, the phrase will fly off your tongue. As you learn the language, start using only a monolingual dictionary. That is, you write down the meaning of the word in the same language.
Step 2
Mnemonics. It is best to use the method of sound associations or, in other words, Atkinson's method to memorize words of a foreign language. The essence of the method is in the selection of Russian words close to foreign in sound. The connection should not be logical, but rather associative. Let's take the word feelings - feelings. In Russian it sounds something like "filings". Words similar in sound: owl, filler, peeling, and so on. Whichever word is closer to you, associate that. Now you need to bind this word to a close one in meaning. With constant exercise, you will quickly find associations. Just don't leave these words hanging like a dead weight. Use them in speech.
Step 3
Usage. As it was said, knowing the words is not enough, you need to use them. Speak constantly, use them as soon as possible, even if the interlocutor does not understand you well, the main thing is your practice. If you don't have anyone to practice with, record yourself through a microphone into your computer, simulating dialogue. Try to translate ordinary phrases that you hear in Russian into a foreign language. It is very important to constantly be in the environment of the language, that is, to listen and speak in a foreign language.
