Laziness is a real disease of our time. But should you always fight it? There can be many reasons for not wanting to work, study, do household chores and play.

Overwork and stress

Very often people who do not know how to rest complain about laziness. When they are asked to analyze their day, such people are surprised to find that, amid business and worries, they forget to allocate time for rest. They take the body's need for rest for laziness, and instead of allowing themselves to relax, they suffer from feelings of guilt and worthlessness.

To avoid fatigue, you must definitely accustom yourself to the fact that any work requires a break. Of course, there is an opinion that the best rest is a change of activity, but this rule does not always work. It is better to alternate working at the computer not with washing the floors, but with exercises for the eyes, a light warm-up and a cup of tea by the window. And if the vacation usually takes place in the country, then let the work in the garden give way to walks in the woods and contemplation of beautiful landscapes.

Procrastination

Procrastination is another common problem. How is it different from laziness? In simple terms, laziness is unwillingness to do anything. Procrastination is the constant postponement of an important matter under various pretexts. An example is the well-known situation when the husband cannot hang the shelf for a whole year, because he does not have time for this, and the wife still does not make it to the gym due to the fact that there is no time. The reason for this behavior is not laziness at all, but fear of criticism, condemnation, failure. Most often this happens due to the fact that the person lacks motivation and self-confidence.

To overcome this condition, it is necessary to analyze the tasks set. It is much easier to prepare for a session when a student is personally interested in the quality of his knowledge, and does not do it out of fear of parents and teachers. And when fulfilling other people's requests, it is better to think about the joy and gratitude that loved ones will experience.

How to deal with laziness

When a task seems too energy-consuming and difficult to accomplish, it is hard to find the strength to start performing it. It’s much easier to take the first step if you break a big task into pieces and take breaks from doing them. For example, pausing for 15 minutes at the end of each hour of work can help keep you productive and enthusiastic for the rest of your day.
