Sometimes fear takes on a pathological character, and a person begins to fear not what can harm, but what is associated with this fear. This is how the fear of the dark, the fear of heights, the fear of certain numbers, the fear of insects and animals, etc. appear. An obsessive, irresistible, animal fear of a certain phenomenon is called a phobia. Only a volitional effort helps to tame fear, to limit its influence on life and decision.

Identify and articulate your fear. Sometimes you can't do this on your own, you have to contact a professional. The help of a friend in this case is not always possible: the area of fear and mental disorders is more likely associated with medical, rather than personal secrets.

Step 2
Find out the reason for this fear. Perhaps some kind of memory, preserved only in the subconscious, associated with the risk to the life of yours or your loved one, warns you about the danger lurking in the source of your fear. Maybe they tried to rob you when you were walking home at night, or you almost fell, going to the edge of a cliff, or you were very painfully bitten by a snake. The fear of public speaking also has reasons.
Step 3
Imagine a situation in your mind: you are alone with your fear. Give the source of fear the most threatening features, everything in it should be superlative: the deepest abyss, the blackest darkness, the most aggressive audience. Now imagine that you have a weapon that can kill this fear: you cut the darkness with your sword, it falls, a bright sunny day appears behind it. In front of the audience, you say a funny anecdote, everyone starts laughing and applauding you. You can give fear and comic features.

It is impossible to eliminate fear completely. Without it, man would become reckless and ruin himself. Your task is not to get rid of it completely, but to subdue the phobia.
