Moral and ethical standards exist in order to regulate the behavior of people. However, more and more people do not want to reckon with such norms of behavior, giving themselves more freedom, and, often, infringing upon the rights of another person.
Spiritual degradation is expressed not only in the infringement of the rights of another person. It also includes crime, cultural degeneration, alcoholism, drug addiction, etc. The degradation of even one person affects society as a whole. This person shares his thoughts with friends, relatives, writes on forums on social networks. He has like-minded people. These like-minded people also share their spiritually low thoughts and theories. If a morally “pure” person somehow falls into the company of moral degradants, then, in most cases, he himself becomes one of them. Many of these groups of friends "convert" huge numbers of people. Such collectives are engaged in joint vandalism, crimes, members of such companies are drug addicts, alcoholics. Most people no longer pay attention to such groups, perceiving them as a common attribute of society. The spiritual degradant is not interested in global problems. Cultural values are not important to him. This is how the problem of lowering the moral development of citizens arises. Many people blame technical inventions for this: on television and on the Internet, they promote immorality and belittling of individuality, which means that television and the Internet are to blame. These are just things, by themselves they cannot do anything, the only problem is how to use certain objects and technologies. One of the reasons for the moral degradation of a person and society as a whole is a strong rise of material and economic values over cultural ones. What a person just does not do, just to get rich. Neither environmental problems, nor destruction, nor numerous deaths will stop him. For most modern people, money takes the first place in their life. A society that is a fan of money is much easier to manage. It is enough to mention a high-paying job, and many people will agree almost without hesitation, regardless of the dubious reputation of the employer or the dishonesty of the work itself. This is how various scams are born. Spiritual degradation has many facets. People try to get rid of its consequences without trying to destroy the cause of these consequences. Only by getting rid of the degradation of the morality of the population can one get rid of most of the global problems of the modern world.
