The loss of a loved one is life-changing. But there is no need to despair, such a grief must be experienced and rebuilt. Relatives will help to cope with feelings, and the right actions will shorten the period of suffering.
Instructions
Step 1
The tragedy happened, nothing can be changed, and you need to live on. You can cry, worry about this, but you shouldn't do it for too long. Find the strength to go forward. Return to work, if there was one, or find a new place to provide yourself with the necessary means of subsistence. Work will distract you. The tighter the schedule, the better. After all, activity is the best medicine for mental pain.
Step 2
Do not look for your own fault in what happened, do not think that you could have influenced the circumstances, that you could have changed everything. These thoughts do not help to get out of mourning, but only destroy self-esteem, do not allow you to sleep peacefully at night. Do not create additional suffering for yourself, accept the fact that all this did not happen because of you. Also, do not try to find guilt in others, do not make claims to anyone, do not blame. These emotions will not help bring the person back.
Step 3
Learn to shift attention. Do not remember what happened, do not go over moments from the past in your memory. It is very difficult not to do this, but a simple technique helps. Imagine yourself on the seashore or in a beautiful sunny meadow. Whenever thoughts about the past appear, transfer your attention to a fictional corner. You can also start thinking about work, children or hobbies. Such actions require training, after a few weeks it will be easier to perform them.
Step 4
Do something useful, like sports. Go to the fitness club two to three times a week to distract yourself. It will take empty evenings, give an opportunity to relieve stress after a working day. Being active can help you deal with stress. For the first time, it is better to choose active exercises, it can be aerobics, strip plastic, dancing, boxing. Exercise fatigue will bring relief and sleep much deeper. Do not forget to take a contrast shower after class.
Step 5
Find a hobby that will keep your brain occupied. Someone will choose sculpting, someone will choose to write music. No one will tell you what will suit you. Just try different options, today you can start singing, dancing, crocheting, growing flowers or collecting jigsaw puzzles. You need a hobby to be distracting, so that all your free time is devoted to it. This gives strength to live on, and in the future it can become a profitable job.
Step 6
Don't forget to chat with friends and family. You don't need to call and cross-over every day, but sometimes it's worth keeping in touch. They will remind you of the past, but that's okay. You have a common pain, but you shouldn't talk about it. Choose neutral topics, create interesting activities, rather than just discuss what happened. Starting a new life together is much easier.
