Step 1
Look at the person carefully, take into account the details and nuances. It is important here not to go too far and not to be intent or intrusive. Pay attention to how the person is dressed - what colors or shades prevail in his wardrobe, what type of clothes does he wear, what about the fabrics, style and label he chooses? For example, bright colors of clothing may indicate that a person likes to draw attention to himself. Labels often indicate dependence on public opinion and a specific group of people. If the clothes are old-fashioned, perhaps the wearer is conservative or financially distressed.
Step 2
Pay attention to the person's appearance - posture, self-control, facial expression, neatness, grooming. In order to understand what a person is feeling, it is enough sometimes to take the same posture in which he is. Imperceptibly for the interlocutor, copy his body position. Analyze what feelings you have, is it comfortable or uncomfortable for you in this position?
Step 3
See which gestures the person uses most often. If he covers his mouth during a conversation, then he told information that could not be disseminated. Frequent touching of the nose during a conversation can mean a lie. And open gestures are typical for a friendly person who has nothing to hide from you.
Step 4
Find out his interests. Sometimes it is enough to look at what kind of books he is reading, what picture is placed on the screen of a mobile phone. You can often guess about interests by the style and image of a person or objects in his hands.
Step 5
Have an abstract conversation with the person on a topic that interests you. Do not talk specifically about you, as sensitive information can be difficult to say openly. Discuss a story that happened to someone you know or something from television coverage. Analyze the answer. An indicator can be either a large detailed answer, indicating that a person has his own opinion, or a lack of options. In the second case, the person may be very shy or have nothing to say.
Step 6
When analyzing a situation, avoid unambiguous interpretations. Only a few details put together can give a clear picture. Check your guesses so as not to think in clichés. Listen to the clues from your intuition.
