As Oscar Wilde said, you need to be yourself, because all the other roles are already taken. If you are not ashamed to be yourself, you can be truly happy, because only in this case people will like your real qualities and character traits. Being yourself means using all your strengths and not being afraid to show your weaknesses.
What is the problem?
People who stubbornly try to be someone else, adapt to other people's needs and requirements, and neglect their true nature, usually have a deep, often hidden from themselves reason that compels them to do so. What's wrong? Try to figure out why you are unhappy with yourself? Is there a quality in you that people might not accept?
Perhaps the reason for everything is a long-standing psychological trauma, exaggerated demands from your parents, or a desire to make you someone else, which is shown by others. Remember that all people want it to be convenient for them, and if they are unhappy with you, it is only because they are pursuing their own interests. But you also have your interests! For example, being happy, isn't that important enough?
Be proud of yourself
There are things to be proud of, and if you don't like something, then you need to change it. These include your name. When people do not like their name, the reason is not that the name is bad, but because people do not accept themselves. Love your name, and if you don't like it at all for objective reasons, then change it - it's not so difficult now. Work is the same thing. Work is what you devote a significant part of your life to. If you don't like it, change it. Or try to find great sides in your activity. Again, it's often not because the job is bad, but because you don't accept yourself.
Listen to yourself
The fear of being yourself is often associated with the fact that you simply do not understand what it is like to be yourself. It's really not that easy. When you get used to conforming to other people's ideals and following other people's goals in life, then it is far from immediately possible to discover your true inclinations and desires.
Just try to take your time. Often people cannot understand how they really feel, succumbing to what they hear from other people, and it happens that they are pressured, to which they obey. Therefore, if you are in difficult circumstances, or you are required to make a difficult decision, then take a break. Stop so that someone who is your true identity can catch up with you. When asked to make a decision right now, say no. True happiness will wait, it will not disappear just from the fact that you hesitated to understand what you really need. Remember the words from the song: "Let's pause the words" …
Try not to get into situations or companies where you feel uncomfortable. Certain people and situations keep you from relaxing. Avoid them. Follow what makes you happy. A place where you feel at ease, people with whom you seem to know from ancient times, although you see them for the first time - all these are signs that you are meeting something important that makes you up. Follow this and you won't regret it.
