According to the slogan of a very famous television series - everyone lies. In everyday life, people really rarely tell the truth, hiding something or embellishing something. However, when it comes to serious issues, the slightest deception can be fatal, and everyone should have the basic skills of "recognizing" lies.

Instructions

Step 1

Analyze the speaker's gestures. Lying is unnatural to human nature, therefore, every time, telling a lie, the speaker feels uncomfortable. First of all, this is expressed in the instinctive "hiding the face" - the speaker can touch the nose, ears, mouth and neck. In addition, the liar will constantly and confidently look you in the eyes to check if you believe the deception and if you need to change the tactics of dialogue. Pay attention also to the directionality of the palms: honesty and openness are instinctively reinforced by raising the palms up, while hidden hands mean concealment of intentions.

Step 2

Watch the construction of sentences. Lies (especially if they are poorly prepared) are always based on basic facts and resolutely avoid details, so a story containing unnecessary details will most likely be true. However, if there are too many trifles, and they literally "crush" the answer to your direct question, then the veracity of the speech should be questioned. It will not be superfluous to pay attention to the wording: a person is more busy inventing a story, so he will not be able to build beautiful and long phrases. Perhaps he will simply duplicate your own wording: "Did you go to the buffet, looked?" - "Yes, I went to the buffet, looked …".

Step 3

Look for inconsistencies. For example, if a person points his finger to the side and does not follow his own gesture with a gaze, it is considered that the interlocutor is overly focused on what he is saying. Likewise, if an affirmative phrase is reinforced by shaking the head in different directions, the gesture clearly contradicts what was said, and one thing is wrong.

Step 4

The liar tries to strengthen the space around him. He can sit down at the table, go to the window, step back into a corner, pick up a book - do something that will help him to isolate himself from you, expand his own area of comfort. This behavior ensures that the topic of the conversation is unpleasant for the interlocutor, although he may not be lying. Watch for other signs.
