According to some hypotheses, sign language is a much more ancient form of communication than words. We still use it in everyday life, and very often without noticing it ourselves. Meanwhile, psychologists assure: subconsciously we perceive better exactly the information that we transmit to each other with gestures. It is not surprising that those who know this non-verbal language can “read” a stranger from the very start, establish eye contact with him and even let him know what they want from him.

Instructions

Step 1

If you want to understand what emotions a person is experiencing at the moment, take a close look at his face. Even if he is in control, you can notice some changes in facial expressions. For example, with anger, the nostrils widen slightly and the wings of the nose seem to rise up, the eyes shine, the cheeks turn red, the eyebrows are slightly bent. If a person suffers, live facial expressions are not given to him, his face seems to go numb. At the same time, the eyes lose their shine. But the one who rejoices, on the contrary, relaxes his face, transverse wrinkles form on his forehead, his eyes sparkle, and wrinkles scatter around them like rays.

Step 2

When a person lies or withholds the truth, he can give himself away involuntarily with gestures, as well as facial expressions. Automatically, the liar averts his eyes, trying to meet his interlocutor's gaze as little as possible. He blinks and swallows more often, sometimes involuntarily licking his lips or touching his nose with his hand. A blush appears on the cheeks, sweat may appear on the forehead if the lie is serious. Confusing a person in this state is quite simple: you need to stare at him for a few seconds, as if making it clear that you know the truth.

Step 3

Like the eyes, the palms are also considered a “mirror of the soul”, from which one can understand a person's feelings and his attitude towards you. If a person holds out an open hand to you, it means that he completely trusts you. If his palms are clenched convulsively into fists or shoved into his pockets, most likely the person is upset, angry or hiding something.

Step 4

A special type of gesture is those that are subconsciously aimed at showing sexual interest in the opposite sex. As a rule, people look askance and slightly upward at those they like. Women begin to furtively correct their hair or fiddle with an earring in their ear, men check if the tie is in place. Partners who are mechanically interested in each other try to get closer to each other, penetrating into the so-called intimate communication zone (from 15 to 50 cm to the face). Smokers, in addition to everything, begin to blow smoke from the cigarette vertically upward (on the contrary, if they do not like a person, they blow it down through their teeth).

Step 5

In business communication, sign language can also say a lot. If during negotiations a person moves his hand along the surface of the table, he is not sure of his decision, or he does not like it. If he lifts his chin forward, he is ready for battle. Those who are confident in themselves throw their hands behind their heads. Leaders who feel free in this company do not look below the line of eyes at the interlocutors.
