Phobias have become a faithful companion for many people in today's hectic and hectic times. Fear of heights or confined spaces, fear of loneliness or public speaking often accompany people throughout their lives, taking away the opportunity to breathe deeply and enjoy the gifts that fate gives them. In such cases, fears need to be worked out and get rid of phobias, learn to overcome them as they arise.

Instructions

Step 1

Phobia is an unreasonable anxiety state that can be accompanied by a panic attack. The roots of the emergence of obsessive states usually lie in the impressions of childhood and adolescence, but the souls hidden in the "closet" remain with the person and follow him like a shadow, now growing, now disappearing.

Step 2

The most unpleasant thing is that obsessive fears interfere with the personality in life and often do not allow themselves to be realized. In addition, they lead to somatic manifestations. Such, for example, as an increase in blood pressure and shortness of breath, up to asphyxiation.

Step 3

If you experience similar sensations, for example, being in an elevator or going on stage, you first need to catch your breath. To do this, take a short strong breath and a long exhale and repeat this at least 10 times. After breathing becomes even, you can already adequately respond to the situation.

Step 4

If we are talking about a permanent fear of heights, darkness or large crowds, there are several ways to overcome it on your own. One of them is to portray your fear in the form of a drawing, craft, or describe it on paper. You can even write a story about your anxiety. Then the result of creation is ripped, broken or changed. This way you can deal with any feeling gnawing at you.

Step 5

Another way to overcome obsessive fear is to embrace it. It means doing things in spite of your fear. For example, if you are afraid of heights, go to the mountains or jump from a parachute, if you are afraid of public speaking, recite poetry in the park or hand out flyers, sweets in the square, for example. Yes, it takes will, but the result is really worthwhile.

Step 6

Unfortunately, not all phobias can be overcome this way. They can be associated with the fear of death, and with the intimate side of life (fear of impotence, infertility, defloration) and with the fear of acquiring an incurable disease (cancer or AIDS). In these cases, the previous approaches will not work or even make the situation worse. Or, for example, the manic jealousy that occurs in people who abuse alcohol, too, cannot be corrected with art therapy or acting towards obsessive anxiety.

Step 7

Of course, we can say that it is important to work on oneself, to develop the inner world, but some fears are so deep in childhood that it is simply impossible to remember and understand for yourself what is the reason and what actually causes panic.

In such cases, contact a psychologist or other specialist who can conduct a deep analysis and understand the reason, provide real help.
