Every second person on the planet encounters at least once in his life with a performance in front of a large audience. But not all are brilliant speakers, to be sure. The excitement and fear of forgetting the right words is a familiar phenomenon that often takes over the mind. In professional language, it is called glossophobia. How do you overcome this fear of public speaking?
Customization. It is very important to understand why you are performing. Perhaps this is a chance to climb the career ladder. Or the state of mind of thousands of people and the course of further events depend on your speech. There are many explanations, but the bottom line is that performance is inevitable. Try to be alone with yourself, out loud to say the importance of your speech: for yourself and others.
Training. If you clearly understand and know what you are talking about, even intense excitement will not be able to bring you down. Therefore, study the material in detail, rehearse in front of a mirror, or better in front of a video camera or a test audience (relatives, friends). So you can immediately feel where you have roughness and gaps.
Expert opinion. Read the advice of famous rhetoricians. Perhaps your speech should be diluted with some verbal techniques and phrases to liven up the audience and let you relax. For example, a sense of humor is always welcome, and if the jokes are also appropriate, then this is 100% success.
Hints. Don't try to learn your speech verbatim. Use key points and words to memorize. Break the text into paragraphs, write abstracts for each, and make flashcards like TV show hosts. Number them. This will help you not to lose the semantic thread, even if for some reason the cards get mixed up.
Third Party Tools:
- Since they are greeted by clothes, then you should look perfect. Think over your image in advance to the smallest detail. It will also give you confidence on stage.
- Practitioners say that the most exciting moment is not the performance itself, but the minute before going on stage. Do not fall into the clutches of your fear at this time. Use athlete techniques - deep belly breathing. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
- Connect your fantasy. Take with you a lucky pen that will take all your excitement, or wear "exclusive" glasses that make you invisible. Just don't play too much.
- Don't be afraid to connect with your audience. There are real people in front of you, just a big company gathered. Think of everything as a friendly meeting. More freedom and everything will work out!
