Meditation practice is a rather laborious and lengthy process, while not a single session, of course, will be in vain, nevertheless, it is not so much the quantity as the quality of each of them that is important. The benefits of meditation can be described as a benefit spreading to the entire body, establishing harmony with your inner world, reuniting with a higher power. In order to meditate successfully from day one, there are just a few important rules to remember.
1. Do not be angry at every thought that comes to mind. Remember that the human brain is constantly processing information, and getting rid of thoughts completely is extremely difficult. Just notice what comes to mind and, without reacting, return to the present moment.
2. During meditation, you can move. There are meditation practices in which it is even necessary to actively move, so you should not focus on the fact that during meditation it is imperative to sit still. Just relax and watch your breath more.
3. No need to keep track of time. If you initially decided to carve out a few minutes before urgent matters, it is better to reschedule the meditation right away. Obsessive thoughts about upcoming affairs will greatly distract and focus on time that, on the contrary, should not exist for you during meditation.
4. Do not meditate in the bedroom. At the level of consciousness, lying, especially in bed, entails falling asleep, since the corresponding signal is sent to the brain. To avoid this, you must definitely choose a place away from the bedroom.
5. Do not invent fancy meditation postures. There is no need to climb to sit in the lotus position or use any other similar position. It is enough to take a comfortable position with a straight back - it is in the spine that the impulse is concentrated to get out of consciousness.
6. Do not analyze what is happening. During meditation practice, it is extremely important to focus on being in the here and now. Constant analysis, which our brain loves so much, puts a barrier between consciousness and subconsciousness.
7. Don't meditate when you don't feel like doing it physically. In many sources you can find information that you need to do meditative practice with sunrise or, on the contrary, before going to bed, but you should choose the time at which to practice is most comfortable for you. If late at night you hardly drag your feet around the house, but get up early, then feel free to make a choice in favor of morning meditations.
8. Do not treat meditation as a temporary hobby. Meditation primarily helps you build relationships with your inner world, and this must be done every day in order to always feel in good shape.
These rules are the most important, since a person tends to think about many things at once, analyze, etc. Trying to do everything the way the monks did is also a road to nowhere. First of all, you need to learn how to breathe correctly and focus as much as possible on awareness of the current state. After thousands of practices, you will be able to meditate as well as monks. The main thing is to show patience and treat yourself and the Higher Consciousness with love.
