Each athlete will tell you that getting ready for the competition, preparing yourself psychologically, is tantamount to winning a battle, winning. The speed of reaction, the ability to predict the force and direction of the opponent's blow, calculate your capabilities and, ultimately, become stronger than him, depends on how much you manage to pull yourself together. But this technique can be useful not only for an athlete. It is useful for any of us to be able to gather ourselves before a crucial moment in life.
Instructions
Step 1
For psychological adjustment, you need to master the basics of self-hypnosis. Many people use this method intuitively. The most common and effective one is to convince yourself that you are the winner and you must win. This method will be effective not only if it is combined with a high level of technical, tactical and physical fitness, but also with certain character traits of an athlete who must always be result-oriented and ready to achieve his goal under any circumstances.
Step 2
Another way is to instill in yourself the idea that the upcoming competition is insignificant and that its results are secondary. This helps to relax and not psychologically strain. On the other hand, the athlete does not motivate himself for the result, and this indifference, of course, can affect his performance.
Step 3
The third way is to instill in yourself the idea that you are obliged to show your technical, tactical and physical potential, regardless of the conditions and nature of the competition, the strength of the opponent, and the possible outcome. This method is fraught with overexcitement and inadequate assessment of what is happening. In this case, the opportunity to perform unsuccessfully is great enough.
Step 4
Some athletes use such techniques as sporting anger and dislike of an opponent, create the illusion of a partner's weakness, or try to completely distract themselves from the upcoming competition. But such techniques are controversial and cannot always help to achieve the desired psychological mood, some of them contradict ethics and are unacceptable for a person who is in harmony with the outside world.
Step 5
In order to easily distract yourself from thoughts about the unfavorable outcome of the battle, to relax and calm down, you need to learn how to regulate your state, taking into account individual characteristics. Here the athlete will be helped by those who know him well enough: coach, psychologist, doctor. Taking into account personal qualities - attention, perception, willpower and desire to work on oneself - they will select exercises to regulate the mental state of an athlete.
