Courage is a heterogeneous phenomenon that can manifest itself in different ways. Someone is afraid to speak not to the public, but still goes to show a number or make a speech. And someone sacrifices their lives to save strangers.

It just so happens that courage is most often attributed to people who risk their lives. They can be soldiers, firefighters, rescuers, or doctors saving the lives of others. They are awarded medals and praised. These people unconditionally consider daredevils - few can dispute this. But this is far from the only manifestation of courage.

A courageous person does not have to be distinguished by great deeds. Even a minor achievement for some people is a feat. The timid young man, who first suggested the girl to meet, feels like a hero inside. A plump girl, in spite of all her complexes, wearing a chic dress for the prom is no less a hero. But can such people be called brave?

What is courage?

Ozhegov's dictionary indicates that courage is determination, that is, the absence of fear in the implementation of one's decisions. Resolute people are called people who strive for their goal, no matter what. However, this is not an entirely accurate definition, since the achievement of the desired may not always be associated with fear.

Mark Twain was able to put it more aptly. According to him, courageous people are not those who have no fear, but those who can resist and control it. If a person can subdue phobias and make an adequate decision, and most importantly, then implement it, then he can undoubtedly be called courageous.

What is common between a hero who pulled people out of a burning car and a man who does not speak to the public, despite his fear? In both cases, there is an internal struggle. The first person knows that he may die, but he still faces danger. The second is experiencing unprecedented stress, but goes to the stage step by step. Of course, the significance of the first event is much greater, but courage is present in both cases.

The traits of a brave person

Courage has the following character traits:

- courage;

- persistence;

- vitality;

- integrity;

Courage is not to be confused with recklessness. Unfortunately, this also happens quite often. There are cases when the rulers, wishing to glorify their name, sent a huge army to fight against the obviously strong opposite and were brutally defeated. Or soldiers who went alone to the enemy's camp to prove their courage were captured or immediately perished.

Courage is the golden mean between cowardice and recklessness. A fine line that distinguishes a person with great spiritual strength.
