Attention and concentration are two important factors that have a huge impact on the process of memorizing information. But not every person can boast that he can concentrate on a certain subject for a long time. There are quite a few overlapping concentration exercises, but the following are considered the most effective.
Instructions
Step 1
Working cycles.
When performing a variety of tasks, save your attention by dividing the procedure into specific cycles. For example, you can take advantage of this method while washing dishes. Taking a plate in your hand, say to yourself "Start" and start washing it, while paying so much attention to it, as if you are performing a complex surgical operation. When you're done, put your plate on the dryer and say to yourself "Stop." Continue on to the next subject.
Step 2
Mental breaks.
Place any small item in front of you, such as an eraser, coin, or piece of paper. Try to concentrate on the subject for five minutes. As soon as your attention switches to another thing, gently bring it back. Count how many times in a given period of time your attention has made such leaps.
Step 3
Brain impulses.
Take a pencil in your hand and prepare a piece of paper. Then start slowly drawing your pencil over the paper, while focusing on the spot where the tip of the pencil draws the line. Each time your attention jumps to another object, draw a brain impulse (mark it as a burst on the line). When you reach the end of the paper, start over. Check how long you can lead a straight line.
Step 4
Center of the universe.
When you have nothing to do, look around and select any object, such as a dot on the ceiling, a pattern on the wall. For five minutes, focus your attention on it, forgetting about the world around you. Let this object become the center of the universe for you for these five minutes. Even if you want to be distracted by something else, continue to hold your attention. Only when the exercise time is over, shake yourself and look around.
Step 5
Count.
If you are reading a boring book and you see that your attention is beginning to be distracted, then try the following technique: put a check in front of the place where you were distracted. Go back to reading and go to the bottom of the page. Repeat mentally all the material that you have read. If you cannot do this, then you need to read the page again. Over time, you will notice that the number of marks has decreased significantly and your concentration has improved.
