We all want to manage ourselves and deal with our emotions. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. But the ancient Greeks already knew how to learn such a necessary art, and in the countries of the East, the ability to control oneself was taught even to young children.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, for self-regulation, for the ability to maintain a good mood, to relieve neuropsychic stress, learn to listen to yourself, your body, and to control it.

Step 2

In the countries of the East, this skill is called meditation, our psychologists call it auto-training. For example, if you are cold, do not "shrink", exacerbating the cold state, but straighten your shoulders and give the command to your brain: “I am not cold at all. I feel warm.".

Step 3

Do not try to immediately control the physical condition of your body. Start by controlling your emotions. When an emotion arises (we mean a negative emotion for you - unreasonable fear, anxiety, irritation, and so on), try not to let it grow.

Step 4

Switch your attention to some business related to another, but no less urgent problem for you. For example, you did not pass the exam, and you are worried about it, remember that you are going on a date tomorrow, but you have nothing to wear and you have to go to the store to buy.

Step 5

Also, use methods aimed at extinction of the emotion that has arisen. Exercises to relax specific muscles and muscle groups will help you here. Lie on your back and gradually release tension from your heels to your facial muscles. Repeat to yourself: "I am calm, my legs are relaxed, my hands are relaxed, I feel easy and calm …"

Step 6

By controlling your emotions, learn to control your behavior as well. Observe yourself for three to four weeks. Identify those inappropriate behaviors that you want to get rid of. Think about how you should react “correctly”. And develop the habit of doing the right thing, adequately. To do this, you must constantly keep "the situation under control", and not let your emotions take over.

Step 7

Of course, learning to control yourself always and everywhere is not an easy task. But when you learn this, life will become calmer and more joyful. In addition, by understanding yourself, you will become better at understanding others.
