When a person moves from a young age to a mature one, he begins the stage of "reassessment of values." Many men meticulously analyze their achievements, their compliance with youthful goals and dreams, and often find themselves disappointed. Many women worry that they are no longer as beautiful, slender as they used to be. To this is often added the so-called "empty nest syndrome", when grown-up children leave the parental home. The result is the notorious midlife crisis. What are its main features?

Signs of a midlife crisis in men

Some men get irritated, nervous, picky. Often they are betrayed by objectivity, they can, because of a trifle, fall with recklessness on their relatives and friends.

However, they can also become apathetic, indifferent to everything that surrounds them. They often become lazy.

Also, it is not uncommon for men, obsessed during a midlife crisis by the thought of their own failure, lack of fulfillment, change jobs for no apparent reason, look for a new hobby, start doing some fundamentally new business (even those in which they previously did not show the slightest interest).

For example, a convinced "technician" can try his hand at painting, literature, and a pronounced humanist can start making homemade furniture.

A man may also suddenly become involved in extreme tourism, dangerous sports, parachute jumping or hang gliding. Although not long ago he spoke negatively about such occupations and condemned people who, in his opinion, risk their lives in vain.

Sometimes a man (if finances allow) buys an expensive car, despite the fact that there was no need for such a technique. This is a sign that he wants to mentally return to his younger years, when many dream of such acquisitions!

In cases where a man is going through a very difficult midlife crisis, he can go for it to completely change his whole life. For example, to leave the family, move to a new place of residence, enlist for a rotational job or on an expedition just to be away from home.

How does a midlife crisis manifest in women?

The main symptom of such a crisis among the fair sex is an obsession with their appearance. A woman begins to pay special attention to hairstyle, make-up, skin care, wardrobe, spends more time in front of the mirror, and visits a beautician or make-up artist much more often. She is nervous at the thought that the former beauty, harmony, elasticity of the skin is no longer there, worries if her husband or partner will grow cold towards her. Even a harmless joke about her appearance can upset you to tears, and in the most severe cases, even lead to depression. It was during this period that women turn to a plastic surgeon, hoping to return their former youth and beauty.
