The frequency of breaks directly affects the effectiveness of rest and further work. It is believed that the human brain can fully concentrate for about 30-90 minutes. That is why the duration of classes in schools and universities is 40-45 and 90 minutes, respectively. Then it is imperative to take a break, otherwise the brain will cease to fully perceive information.

In work and other matters, this principle is also desirable to apply. There are a number of techniques for this. One of them, Pomodoro, is based on periodicity and maximum concentration. The breaks are strictly defined: every 25 minutes of work, you need to rest 5 minutes. After four cycles, a longer break follows: 15 minutes. You can customize this technique for yourself and set the most convenient frequency.

During the break, you need to relax as much as possible. Of course, it is not so easy to do this in a short period of time, but it is quite possible. Wash yourself with cold water, rub your face with your palms, perform a small facial exercise. Then sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Imagine a pleasant environment (for example, sea or mountains). All this will take 1-2 minutes, but it will give you a good rest.

Another option is to change your occupation. If you have been working primarily mentally, try some physical activity. If your work involves physical activity, then read a book or solve a crossword puzzle. Better yet, change your environment. Go outside, get some fresh air, or just go to the next office for a couple of minutes.

Use long breaks for their intended purpose. Don't ignore lunch or naps. Maybe you can finish some urgent projects during these hours, but then your efficiency will noticeably decrease. In addition, occasional disregard for these breaks can affect your health.
Step 6
It is necessary to get out of the breaks correctly. It is believed that the brain is able to return to full-fledged work in 4-7 minutes, that is, it must first accelerate. At the end of your break, start setting yourself up for work, but don't get started. You can imagine your boss praising you. Or imagine what will happen if you fail the assignment. In general, use your last moments of rest to boost your motivation level.
