The memorization process is a guided, active process that drives the selection of the most valuable and important data. Memorization is carried out by three different functions. First, information is received, then it is stored, then the information received is restored. In fact, the process of memorization requires the mandatory performance of all three actions, which include the activity of different parts of the brain. To develop a phenomenal memory, you need to be able to use the usual memory effectively.
Necessary
Book "We train our memory. The most effective techniques", V. Stanek, H. Tsehetmayer, 2009
Instructions
Step 1
Alternate work of the same type. For example, a schoolchild is not advised to study mathematics after physics, and literature after history. This is a sure way to forget what has only now been passed and learned.
Step 2
If you have to memorize large volumes of printed text, then take breaks from your work. They need to be filled with exceptionally light physical activity. Knowledge workers who work in offices and institutions act competently. During lunchtime, they do not discuss the latest rumors and gossip, sitting in a poorly ventilated room, but leisurely strolls in a nearby recreation park or eyeing a new thing in a store nearby.
Step 3
Switch from one job to the next. When you change occupation, it can be difficult to focus on it at first. In psychology, this condition is called the inhibition effect remaining from previous work or a long break. Switching is complex, but often subtle. Therefore, if you feel that the material is given to you with difficulty, do not rush to postpone the matter for later, wait out this inhibition effect.
Step 4
Don't get distracted while you work. Phone calls and extraneous conversations disrupt the work rhythm and scatter attention, which leads to the "cluttering" of a person's active memory and inability to concentrate. Sometimes there are situations where distractions cannot be avoided. In such cases, before answering a hail or a call, fix in memory what was done before. For example, end a paragraph, read the last sentence again, repeat the main idea aloud. When returning to further work, reading should begin with the obligatory repetition of the last few paragraphs.
Step 5
When reading, do not allow recurrent movements of the eyes along the line (regressions). This is necessary in order not to violate the logical structure of presentation and not to confuse short-term memory, then the efficiency of memorization and the speed of reading will increase. If the information is difficult to assimilate the first time, re-read the passage or paragraph of the text from the beginning, and if possible, return to it after a while.
Step 6
Consider general daytime fatigue. The most important information is best remembered in the morning or just before bed.
