In some situations, overly emotional people cannot control themselves, which they regret very much later. Scientists have proven that the surge of negative emotions, contrary to popular belief, negatively affects our physical and mental state, leaving behind a lot of complexes and psychological trauma.
Instructions
Step 1
There are no universal methods of controlling your own emotions. All people are different, so everyone has their own approaches to solving this problem. However, psychologists believe that self-confident people can cope with emotions caused by external stimuli. Therefore, if you want to learn how to hide your emotions, you must first of all work on your self-esteem. This is quite simple to do.
Step 2
First, write down your friends and enemies on a piece of paper in two columns. You will find that there are many more people who treat you well. Understand that they love you because you are a good person - this will raise your self-esteem a little. After that, write down your negative qualities on one page, and positive qualities on the second. Try to reconsider your flaws, explain them and turn them into your strengths - this will also affect your self-esteem. In addition, each day, sum up for yourself a little summary of what you have accomplished in a day. You will realize that you are actually a strong and capable person.
Step 3
As you build up your self-esteem, try to learn to be ironic about everything. It is humor that in most cases helps to cope with negative emotions and hide them. If you suddenly come across a person who wants to offend you, and you, instead of being upset, laugh at this, the offender will understand his weakness in front of you, and you will feel a surge of strength and confidence from the fact that you have won a small victory over your emotions.
Step 4
The reception of a psychological mask will help to hide negative feelings and not to break loose. When you feel sad or upset for something, pretend that you are experiencing the opposite emotions. After a while, you will see that this will actually make you feel better.
Step 5
If you are an overly emotional person, try to dose your feelings. For example, if you are faced with a problem, do not vent your emotions at once, react gently, choose neutral words, imagine that you do not care. Take a break from your thoughts until you are alone. After that, write everything that you think on a piece of paper or discuss with one person who is closest to you, and you will feel better.
