Of course, your child should not witness a terrible family scandal. But it is also not necessary to pretend that everything is in order in front of him. Just tell your son or daughter that Mom and Dad are not in the mood today. The child may not yet understand the real reason.
It is worth returning to the conversation about crime. Of course, your child does not need to be frightened by the bloody details of street incidents. But he should be aware of what can be dangerous in the world. Explain that there are people who break the law, that strangers cannot be trusted, but be sure to mention that the criminals are caught by the police and then sent to jail.
If your family is in a financial crisis, this should also not be hidden from your child. Calmly tell him that you temporarily have less money, and you should postpone some purchases for the future. If you hide the truth from the kid, he can come up with his own reasons that his mom and dad walk with worried faces.
In general, the child should be told about adult problems. But it is important how you present the facts. Make it your goal to inform your child, not intimidate him. Remember that children feel false and do not like it when adults do not reckon with them or tell stories about what happens in reality.
