  1. Disruption of social connections. A person who is completely and completely focused exclusively on his work, on attempts to develop a career, breaks away from friends and family. He begins to live in the office, while the team of employees does not always develop really informal and friendly relations. Ultimately, at one point, a workaholic may face loneliness, difficulties in communicating with other people. In especially critical cases, the so-called social autism may develop. This is understood as the complete closeness of a person from the outside world, his refusal to interact with friends and acquaintances.
  2. Career problems. It would seem that if an individual is actively working, devotes a lot of his time to work, how can problems with a career develop?.. However, very often workaholics will not rise up the career ladder, but a crushing fall down. The fact is that, working for wear, forgetting about rest, not being distracted by anything, a person gradually loses shape. His concentration of attention decreases, memory begins to suffer, problems arise with creativity. At some point, even basic simple tasks can be too tough. This will entail dissatisfaction with the authorities, and in especially unpleasant cases, the loss of the position, complete dismissal. As a rule, being deprived of their usual work, a workaholic can fall not just into apathy, but into a very real depression.   3. Emotional burnout. Due to constant stress, the body wears out, the nervous system begins to function incorrectly. Gradually, against the background of workaholism, emotional burnout develops, which is accompanied by both physiological symptoms (for example, insomnia or constant severe fatigue) and psychological manifestations (a person becomes irritable, nervous, anxious). If emotional burnout is very strong, then a simple rest in a couple of days will not work to restore your body.
  4. Professional deformation. This problem usually causes discomfort, first of all, to the workaholic himself. However, connections with other people can suffer because of this.
  5. Stopping development. The consequences of workaholism are very vividly imprinted on personal growth, on self-development. On the one hand, a person immersed in work simply does not find the strength, time or opportunity to engage in the development of his personality. On the other hand, a workaholic may, in principle, lack such a need.
  6. Inability to rest. Constantly concentrating on work, devoting himself entirely to business and tasks, a person gradually forgets how to properly rest and relax. Therefore, in moments of calm and silence, when there is an opportunity to take a break, a workaholic can experience acute negative feelings. This can turn into not only a depressive mood, but also a tendency to addictive and dangerous habits. In addition, depriving himself of rest, gradually a person, in principle, loses the ability to qualitatively relax, which invariably negatively affects the general state of health. Against the background of workaholism, various serious pathologies can develop, which often turn into chronic diseases.
