For the brain to work well, it must be constantly trained, that is, to conduct active mental and physical activity. This contributes to the restoration and growth of cells of the nervous system (neurons), an increase in the number of interconnections between them. Following certain rules will help anyone to think better and become smarter.
Instructions
Step 1
Learn foreign languages. Learning foreign languages significantly contributes to the development of intelligence. Sign up for courses or start studying on your own using textbooks. Also, in the foreign language being studied, you can watch films (preferably without subtitles), TV shows or news, listen to audiobooks, read scientific and fiction literature (books, newspapers, magazines). Try to diversify your approach to learning, provide yourself with several sources of information.
Step 2
Read on. Try to devote more time to reading literature. It is desirable that it be scientific. Check the bookstore frequently for new books. Learn to read meaningfully. After reading something, try to retell the main point. Make notes, comments in the margins, write out interesting information. Remember that reading is the main way to get new information and the more actively you read, the more knowledge you get.
Step 3
Learn new things. Think about what you have always dreamed of doing and start doing it. Learn new skills, actions, skills, for example, playing the guitar or piano. Go where you haven’t been before. Try to look at everything in a new way, from the other side. Study the points of view of other people on issues of interest to you. Try to provide the brain with an influx of fresh knowledge.
Step 4
Continue educating yourself. Continuing your studies (for example, getting a second education or graduate school) will be a good help for self-development. You can study on your own, listen to courses on the Internet, study textbooks, read encyclopedias.
Step 5
Travel. Traveling helps to get new experiences and, thus, to be charged with positive emotions, which are also important for the brain. It is not necessary to immediately travel around the world. Start by exploring the area, hike, or go sightseeing. Spend more time walking.
Step 6
Communicate. Try to communicate more with loved ones, friends, colleagues at work. Join a discussion club. Take part in meetings, conferences. Visit exhibitions, expositions, galleries, museums, etc. Discuss the latest news in your city or in the world. Maintain good relationships with neighbors and acquaintances.
Step 7
Add variety. Try not to walk the beaten path with everyone, but think and do things your own way. Give up habits (automatic actions). Start using your other hand more actively. Develop erudition and broaden your horizons, learn new smells, start walking in new ways (for example, to work), change the arrangement of furniture at home. In short, change the environment, provide the brain with unfamiliar conditions and make it think.
Step 8
Get exercise. Be sure to stimulate your brain development with physical exercise. The results of many foreign studies show that people who, in addition to the library, also go to the gym, have better intellectual indicators, learn new information faster, and master new skills well. Short but intense exercise will help keep your brain vessels in good shape and provide oxygen and nutrients.
