Fears poison our lives, paralyze our will, make us refuse what we want. But you can and should cope with them, otherwise your whole life will be spent on regrets about missed prospects, and not on enjoying the result. Fighting fear must be at all levels of its existence: emotional, rational and behavioral.

Analyze your fear. Let's say you are afraid to approach your bosses with requests or suggestions, and someone constantly bypasses you on the career ladder. Study yourself and decide: are there rational barriers to desired behavior? Are there any unpleasant emotions about taking the initiative? Or do you calmly and confidently go to the office, and there you begin to mumble, unable to cope with fear at the level of behavior?

Step 2

Start at a rational level. "You need to know the enemy by sight." Study what you are afraid of. Let's say you're scared to meet girls. This is a great occasion to read books on female psychology, to have fun watching the weaker sex. Learn everything you can about women and their behavior. This will help overcome other levels of fear as well.

Step 3

Take care of the emotional side of fear. Where did your fear come from? Maybe in childhood someone rudely "kicked you off"? Or the teacher's favorite curse was the phrase "Are you the smartest?" Forgive these people. Leave them with their rudeness, down-to-earthness and narrow-mindedness to fate, she is hardly very friendly to them.

Practice the new desired behavior. If you have studied the essence of the problem, understood where and why unpleasant emotions arose, you know how to manage them, it is time to polish your behavior. Any communication skills, speech training with friends will help here. Even simple conversations with a mirror or even better with a camera can be useful to you. See what intonation, gestures you use when trying to communicate with the person who frightens you. If you are working in a group, get and analyze the feedback. Try a new behavior and get feedback again.
