If you want to draw the attention of random people to yourself or just “dilute” an awkward silence with a conversation, do not be afraid to take risks. That being said, remember that being overly intrusive on the part of strangers is often perceived as an attempt to penetrate personal boundaries.

Step 1
It will be difficult to start a conversation if you do it through force. The desire to communicate must be sincere. The fact is that random people form their opinion about each other in the first 15 seconds of acquaintance - this is how much time it takes to make a first impression. If you take a few moments to smile affably, the person will be more willing to make contact.
Step 2
If you want to talk to a casual person on the street, practice short conversations first. For example, ask how to get to a certain avenue or metro station, give someone an unobtrusive compliment, ask what time it is, etc. Already by the first answer it will be possible to guess whether the person is determined to continue communicating or not. If so, ask a clarifying or joke question in addition to the first one. If not, hurry to leave, not forgetting to thank for your help.
Step 3
Are you on a long journey? As a rule, among fellow travelers, the interlocutors are on their own. But if you notice that one of them is ready to talk, but cannot wait for an opportunity to start a conversation, come to the rescue. This can be done both in the literal sense, for example, helping to arrange the luggage in places, and in a figurative way, say, talking about the weather, treating fellow travelers with tea or a bar of chocolate.
Step 4
Use your sense of humor. As a rule, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, people are too busy with their problems and are rarely willing to spend time chatting with random people. If you strike up a conversation with a fellow traveler or are trying to meet a beautiful stranger, keep in mind that a good joke can save you from failure. Just be careful, because "that funny fat man" who is in front may turn out to be the father or friend of the girl you like. And remember, the joke should be kind, not sarcastic.
