There are some helpful practical methods that you should definitely try. In one of his books, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, renowned psychologist Dale Carnegie proposed a unique but incredibly simple way to get rid of obsessive fear.
Pen and paper are man's best friends
If something bothers you, take a piece of paper and write down all the possible, impossible and even the most ridiculous consequences of the situation that worries you. And also all the options for its solution. Use your imagination. For example, you are worried about "I will be fired from my job." Sit down at the table, take a piece of paper and write.
Options for the outcome of events:
Now sit, think about these options, imagine that they really happened. And write down all the ways to resolve the issue:
A) Will be fired … I will find another job.
Turn on your computer and see suitable vacancies for your position. You will find that there are enough vacancies, and in any case you will not be left without a job. Or maybe you will even find an even better option, with a higher salary or a convenient schedule.
B) They won't be fired …
Everything is obvious here, isn't it? You just laugh.
C) I will remain without a bonus…. Well, I won't buy a new dress, I'll go on a diet for a week (there is, for example, a rice diet) - I was just going to lose weight! Walking to work - free fitness!
D) They will reprimand and hang the photo on the board of shame …
Think about what exactly they might be reprimanded for. Consider a speech in response, perhaps even with some sentimental moments or repentance: “Sorry, boss. I am so worried about the reputation of our company that sometimes I just do not sleep at night, thinking about what to do best. Of course, sleepless nights affect my efficiency, which is why I made a mistake. I promise to buy sleeping pills, and no more mistakes. This will amuse you a lot. On the day of the alleged reprimand, put on your best outfit and go to work prepared. Bring your very best photo for a board of shame, consider it free advertising.
When you do this, you will feel like a stone will literally fall from your soul. Everything will become so transparent and obvious to you that there is simply no room for alarm. Remember that the unknown is the only concern. But it is worth considering everything carefully, and the confusion will disappear. All worries lurk only in the subconscious, in reality people are afraid not of the events themselves, but of their own fear.
Switching
If something bothers you, try switching, distraction. Fear has big eyes, and the more you “wind up” inside, the more bleak life seems to be. Fear is generated by thoughts, and if you can change your thoughts, you can get rid of anxiety.
Find an activity that can knock you out of your anxiety. Do what you love, or, conversely, what you have never done. In this case, you will have to concentrate on the lesson with all your strength, and simply will not be left with attention to fears.
Go play volleyball or football, and even if you yourself do not have the strength to switch from your own experiences, your team will quickly revive you: “Hey, you missed the ball! We are losing because of you! Come on, pull yourself together! A sense of responsibility and unwillingness to let your team down will keep you focused and fully focused on the game.
Call a friend and ask for an exciting movie to watch. Grab some popcorn, sit back and enjoy! In short, find any activity that can knock you out of your usual self-pity. By doing this regularly, you will see your life change for the better.
Look for pluses in everything
Every medal has two sides - everyone knows this expression. But the world is so multifaceted that two sides cannot be dispensed with. Any event has a million positive consequences, and just as many negative ones. The whole point is only in our perception - "What is good for a Russian, death for a German." If you manage to change your attitude to a particular situation, then you can change the world around you.
Look for your pros in everything. If a guy dumped you, maybe it's for the best? Maybe you should use the opportunity and do things for which there was still not enough time? Go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower. Enroll in a Spanish language course, or go to a theater and stage a play for orphans. But you never know you can find cases!
Remember what you once dreamed of. Make a list of things you've never gotten around to and start doing them on schedule. You will notice that your head will be free and everything will become much easier. You will see that nothing is impossible. Because all the time, while you wanted to do something, but did not find the time for it, the thought was in your head “This is impossible. I cannot do this because … "and you did not notice how one day your whole life turned into this limitation" impossible, because … ". But when you start doing things that you put on the back burner, you will see that in reality anything is possible.
In short, stop feeling sorry for yourself and direct your energy to creating something new. We consist of our own habits, and as soon as we change them, the world around us will also change.
By applying these methods in life, you can get rid of bad thoughts and fears and change your life forever.
